I recently visited this location and was highly disappointed by the lack of basic infrastructure and organization. If you are planning a visit, please be prepared for the following: * Inefficient Appointment System: Having an appointment seems to make no difference. Even if you arrive on time, you are still required to stand in a long line, making the scheduling process feel pointless. * No Seating or Waiting Areas: There is absolutely no seating provided for parents or family members. Unless you are accompanying a minor, family members are not allowed inside and are forced to stand outside for several hours. * Lack of Food Options: There are no hotels or restaurants in the immediate vicinity. If you are stuck there for half a day, make sure to bring your own food and water. * Poor Restroom Facilities: There is only one small toilet available for everyone. This creates yet another long line, which is extremely inconvenient given the hours spent waiting. Summary: The management needs to seriously reconsider their entry policy and provide basic amenities like seating and better restroom access. I would not recommend coming here with family members unless absolutely necessary.

I recently visited RPO for document re-submission for my reissuing passport, and found the process to be organized despite the long queue. Everyone was called based on their sequence and batch number, and while the process involved visiting 3-4 counters, the guards and staff were helpful in guiding visitors. The entire procedure took around 2 hours, which could have been completed in about 45 minutes if not for the high crowd volume--understandable for a government office. A key takeaway is to be prepared with all necessary documents and approach the staff politely; they were respectful and cooperative when treated with courtesy. Overall, the experience was smooth and manageable, provided you remain patient and allocate enough time for the visit.

Getting a passport is a battle! In 2025, the rules are so strict that you have to submit a document from before 1986. The guards are very cooperative, the washroom is outside, and you'll find good officers if you're lucky. You can also visit Monday Wednesday Friday to enquiry anything from 10:00 AM to 01:00 pm. So all the best hope you get your passport soon! Thank you.

Regional Passport Office is located at 4 , Brabourne Road , near Tea Board . The office is very messy and not at all organised. No real communication, very very messy and very problematic. The security guards behaviour is very rude and loud. The appointment timing dnt have any value. You need stand in que and wait for your turn. Whatever your appointment timing is its irrelevant here. The bathrooms are smelly and dusts are everywhere. Please make it clean and organised . Very bad experience.

I applied for a fresh passport through POPSK, and my experience was quite a long journey. After submitting documents and completing police verification within 3 days, my application got stuck in the review phase for over a month. I tried calling the RPO Kolkata office, but it was almost impossible to connect on phone -- though they did reply to my emails saying my birth certificate was under verification. Later, I found some errors in my birth certificate and got them corrected and digitized through the municipality. After emailing the new version, I received letters from the Policy Section to visit RPO. On my first visit (without appointment), the staff were helpful -- I submitted my corrected birth certificate and was told it would be processed soon, but the file remained in review. On my second visit (after booking an enquiry appointment), the officers checked my file, and after two hours, they confirmed my passport had been printed and would be dispatched shortly. I received it within 2 days after that! Overall, the process took 4 months, but the staff at RPO were polite and helpful when visited in person. Tip: If your application is stuck in review, don't panic -- keep mailing them and visit the RPO with proper documents. You'll surely get your passport! Timeline : 17/06/2025 - document verification 21/06/2025 - police verification 21/08/2025 - RPO visit without appointment but with the policy section letter 09/10/2025 - RPO visit with enquiry appointment. 14/10/2025 - Got my passport

This was the worst experience possible. 1. Had booked a slot for 9:15 reporting, the "babu's" don't come into office before 10AM 2. There is just one line which is the same for people with or without an appointment. 3. It's a first come first serve basis line and appointment doesn't matter to them. 4. The guards are fine but overall staff behaviour and attitude is too nonchalant. DO NOT COME HERE. It's better booking through the private vendor near Ruby. Very sad state of affairs of west bengal government

Before going to this office, I was worried about my application since a large number of applicants left negative reviews and rumours about the services in RPO kolkata. However, a few of applicants also mentioned that If we have correct and original document along with a valid appointment letter taken from PSK website, the process is smooth and secure. Only based on these few reviews, I went to this office with all the right things I need to carry. My appointment time was 11:15am and reporting time was 11:00am. I reached 10:55, have shown my appointment reciept to the security. He allowed me to enter and I went to first floor. Then it took overall 50mins - 1 hour to complete all the pending processes for my application. While leaving, I got an sms from PSK officials that my passport printing process has just initiated. Hence, my experience was good and I'll suggest all the applicants whose application process is pending for anonymous issues instead of having all valid and legal documents, just take an appointment first. You may get a date after 3 weeks or up to 2 months but that appointment letter is the key thing to enter in this office. Besides, you should have valid documents without which, you may face difficulties as the process is now more strict. Don't get panic while seeing negative and bad reviews.
