Delhi Airport Experience Delhi Airport is incredibly large and busy. When we arrived, we didn't have our boarding passes yet, so before even entering the main doors, security had to check both our plane tickets and passports. After entering, we still needed to check in at the counter because we couldn't upload our boarding passes digitally. The check-in line was extremely long--honestly comparable to a Disneyland wait--and it took close to three hours. Since this wasn't our first time traveling through Delhi Airport, we decided to use a porter service. You do tip the porter, but it was absolutely worth it because they guided us straight to the front of the line and helped us get our boarding passes much faster. Security screening (TSA) required another line, with separate areas for men and women. You hold your passport and boarding pass while your bags are scanned. The process moved steadily, though not as quickly as expected. Women are also required to step into a private cubicle for an additional security check conducted by a female officer. Once through security, getting around the airport was fairly quick despite its size. We made a quick restroom stop and then waited to board. This was my third time traveling through Delhi Airport, and overall, the experience was decent--busy and time-consuming at points, but manageable, especially if you know to use a porter service.

Once you pass through security, you will find the typical range of shops and services you would expect at a large international airport. As is common at airports around the world, prices are generally two to three times higher than outside, but the selection is good and convenient. The airport itself is quite large, so depending on your gate you may need to walk a fair distance. Fortunately, the gate areas are comfortable and offer plenty of seating for passengers waiting for their flights. Overall, the airport in New Delhi is a professional, well-run, and modern international airport with friendly staff and a strong focus on security. While the procedures are thorough, the overall experience is positive and gives travelers a sense of order and safety.

The airport is huge, and walking between terminals can genuinely take 10-15 minutes, sometimes more depending on crowd and distance. If you have a tight connecting flight, this is where you need to be sharp. Keep an eye on your gate information, move quickly, and don't assume transfers will be effortless just because it's the same airport. For first-time visitors, the size can feel overwhelming, but frequent travelers will appreciate how structured and systematic it is.
