The invigilator or inspector is unprofessional to the core. He behaves like the candidates are criminals and we have commited crime or something. For 4 wheel test i have practised many hours and do it appropriately. Given in multiple situation. But there is some kind of hooliganism going on in this RTO, that we only have to take test in few of their selected vehicle from driving school(tied up with this RTO-Das training school-the car is maruti 800 already crossed 15 years of its service time but still in use). The guy sitting in co passenger seat asked if i am with some xyz school or not. After knowing so i am from different school he gave a look asked me to board without opeining the lock. When i asked to open the locked he got more agitated. Then i saw the driver co passenger seat has clutch and brake so he can too make shifts if required. After immediet start i got to know he only wanted me to stear only. Not actually drive...he started scolding when i was changing gear or making shift in clutch or brake. When i understood only stearing is required and he will do the rest by that he got already agitated and made unecessary clutch changes to increase speed so i cannot complete the test properly and made me fail delibarately. After me a girl took the test and she only steared and passed. So it is a clear indication of voilation of law. Sooner or later i will pass i know. But the people who are getting spoon feeding like this and getting license in future i hope they do not make any big mistakes on road which cause accidents.

This is one of the most disgusting government places I have ever visit. But you need to visit there for many purposes. I visited here for my driving license. The learner procedure is you need to reach there according to your time, preferable to go morning. You must carry your license application file and original documents which you provide in your application. At first, you need to go 12no counter for your document verification, after that go to the 5 no. counter for biometric( photo click), then just give the exam on a computer. The procedure sounds very simple. but this is very complicated because there have no manner and system for anything.

Very poor experience at counter 12-B. The staff is highly irresponsible and behaves rudely with candidates. He often gets up and leaves during work without any reason, causing delays. During the verification process, they unnecessarily create problems regarding identification marks, insisting that candidates get a doctor's note to confirm marks on the body. This is unfair and creates stress for genuine candidates. The management should take strict action to improve staff behavior and provide proper training

Would have given 10 stars if options were available. Why 5 Star? Kindly read on! Since June 2025; I was visiting "Counter number 9" (I suppose, can't remember the exact number, my apology) which is infront of the BKP RTO entrance towards renewal of my dad's DL. This is the designated counter verify documents. After completion of all formalities; paying required fees online the very first mistake discovered with my file was missing "Application Slip", online search was not much helpful, hence started asking people about 'Application Slip'; ultimately a good samaritan advised me to visit the printing shop (inside the complex). Got the Application Slip by paying Rs.10. Another mistake was found with my dad's name. My dad is a medical practitioner & the local agent wrote "Dr." (added with my dad's name since 80's). Gentleman from the verification counter asked me dad's Medical Degree Certificate, an Affidavit from First Class Magistrate saying Dr. xxxx & Mr. xxxx is the same (identical) person, a newspaper advert. On August 4th, 2025, with all documents I went to the same counter with a grate hope, my turn came but the person from the counter was busy to sign bunch of papers already he had collected, waiting for around 10 minutes or so politely I said; "Sir, will you kindly see my papers once" he looked at me, grabbed my almost halve kg documents; gave an eye on it & asked rudely; "did you see the newspaper advert"? I replied "yes I'm! Got reply "why didn't you mention DL number with the advert"? Get a new advert with DL Number. I politely replied him back that, he could have said same thing last time itself. He just threw my file & was told not to waste his time. But made a grave mistake by saying "visit Counter Number 10" if I wish. My hunt started ultimately discovered it is inside the building, most importantly the "Counter Number 10" (it's situated left hand side of the corridor) is the chamber of one Mr. S. Mukherjee (probably, can't remember my apology) happen to be the "ARTO" or the "Chief" of the "Barrackpore RTO". Was stopped at the door as usual, actually it's difficult to meet such higher official in one go. I explained the story to the gentleman who happened to be the assistant to the "ARTO" or the "Chief". Was allowed to enter after waiting few minutes. Before I narrated every thing the "Chief" offered me a seat, listened, checked all documents carefully, passed it to a Madam (was sitting behind with a computer) to verify. I just told the "Chief"; was it my mistake not to approach middlemen, who used to charge Rs.1500/, indeed I've spent double, do you think that, person like my dad's age would ever visit RTO to renew a DL? Sir, kindly make an end here and see ordinary people should not suffer or keep on visiting like me? The 'Chief' got annoyed, called another two officers, the one seats diagonally opposite of "Chief" chamber, other one in "Khaki" uniform with double Stars. There were conversations. The Verification Counter person was called in. The "Chief" asked why he has refused my case? He had no answer, so I helped him by narrating newspaper advert. The "Chief" reminded him by saying; "I told all of you at the very first day, not to refuse/harras those Barrackpore RTO issued licenses having prefix such as Dr., Col., Major, Captain" etc., with their name. There were big blasting which went on for some times. Ultimately the "Chief" raised few valid points, 1. verification counter gentleman is none other than a Data Entry Operator, can't seat in verification counter with "Green Ink Pen'', 2. who gave permission? 3. he will never ever go to the verification counter. Question might arise why I narrated such a lengthy story, the reason behind is that, still there are good souls around there. I'm not a big guy nor having contact with any politicians, did not take help or made any phone calls to the "Chief" prior to my visit. All are not corrupt! It's up to us to reach the right person. Officers I met at the Barrackpore RTO are really really gentleman and well behaved. Thank you for reading.

Very large and old Government office of Barrackpore sub division in North 24 Parganas district. Situated Inside the large and famous Indian Army Cantonment Area the oldest army Cantonment Air force base in our country near the Barrackpore sub divisional court and Barrackpore sub divisional administrative office. I have visited there for Tax payment of my vehicle. There are so much advocates. Who's behaviour is very kind and helpful. But the premises around were not well maintained. During monsoon season or after any small rain the premises ground got flooded. Government should repair the ground. All the staffs and officers are very honest and didn't ask for bribe that's the good thing i have noticed here than other government offices. The parking area is so large but only for two or four wheeler allowed. One of the best thing is the nature and environment near the office. There is a large pond with beautiful coconut and banana plants around the premises which makes the area more beautiful. Best experience thanks for the West Bengal government for such fast and corruption free services.

Barrackpore RTO is in 5 minutes distance from Barrackpore Railway Station. Went for trainer license. Overall smooth functioning.
