I had been to BKP Head Post Office to apply family pension. After enquiring; a gentleman advised me to get in touch with one Mr. Sanatan ( guess I'm correct, can't remember the surname, my apology), who was in incharge of pension related work at that period (September, 2025). The very first information I received was "family pension is a lengthy process, which will take time, and better I visit him after puja vacation. I requested him to start the process as the said vacation was weeks away. Was told to come back after a few days because forms/ documents not available. In my next visit I was handed over with five printed papers or form, as follows, 1. Name of the applicant ........, Witness(1&2) .....,Signature ...,Full Address ....,Signature ... (it's a single page form, Special Note: This Form must be Attested by Gazetted Officer, but also written: " To be furnished in case the applicant is not literate enough to sign his/ her name) 2. Form # 14 (two pages) 3. S. O Copy 4. H. O Copy 5. Description roll of Smt. .... As vacation was approaching, we filled up all those forms quickly, attached required documents (Voter ID, PAN etc., self attested) of witnesses. Approached Mr. Sanatan with the filled application forms, including the form (first one) attested by Gazetted Officer, dad's original pension book, death certificate and few other essential documents. Mr. Sanatan got upset by seeing me, probably he did not expect me in such a short period. Nonetheless, he had to see my file. He discovered the mistake! Each and every page of the application forms were not attested by the Gazetted Officer! The first one where it is written "Note: Attestation should be done by the Gazetted Officer", and added another line: To be furnished in case the applicant is not literate enough to sign his/her name. So it was attested, but not all. Mr. Sanatn asked me whether I carefully listened his words or not, I probably have a limited IQ (Apni ki kom bhojen). After listening his long and painful speech, I somehow gathered strength to asked "does every Post Office in West Bengal follow the same procedure (I was told by someone from the Postal department that, new systems have been adapted) or not? He got annoyed; replied back, " I don't know who follows what, if you need pension or work to be done from here then you have to follow my instructions. Fair enough! My hunt started again to find a Gazetted Officer who will put her/ his signature and seal on the remaining papers. Most funny thing is that, I met an Income Tax Officer (happen to be a known one), who refused to sign, instead asking me to show where it is written or mentioned that attestation required on each and every page? Was told; he will be visiting the Postmaster about the issue or the harassment... . Although I'm not sure what the ITO did ultimately. Vacation was nearing and I was losing hope. Had really tough time finding and convincing a Gazetted Officer. Ultimately I met a Gazetted Officer who was known to my dad; extended his helping hand (Hands of God) at the most crucial time. Signed each & every page as I was told. Finally I was able to submit the file; collected the additional copy of the letter (written by my mom) as a receiving copy. Finally the pension was granted (after physical inspection, I must admit that, the inspector was really gentleman, with quality and culture) after a few months, preciously by the first week of December, 2025. It might take time and patience to read the story especially I'm not a good writer but trust me it was the actual raw fact I encountered. And do hope others should not go through the ordeal particularly during the time when you lose someone whom you loved much! Mr. Sanatan is not at all a helpful person, have tendency to delay the work, with less courtesy, not even say to take a seat; although there is an additional stool, judges people quickly. Luckily I did not see him during my last visit (end of November), shifted to some other desk. Time changes as life, running water does not flow back as is life! Thanks for your time.

Barrackpore head post office is a good position in Barrackpore . Dear straps are very helpful. But I hope current covid-19 affects their staff are not available properly . So there working speed is very slow . This is a great building and helpful this time . So I will give him at 10 out of 10 in this post office . I hope this post offices the area head office . so any other post office will not work the speed post & registered post , but this post office will speed post and registered the work is properly . So I always prefer now this Barrackpore head post office . Thank you .

I am standing in front of Pinkol Sub post office its 10-25 am now, but the post master is yet to arrive, pls look into this matter urgently, the service must start at 10 am as I have been told.

This is the head office of barrackpore division of all branch office and all sub office..this office trying to solve those problems which one can't be done by other branch and sub office.. This head office also have aadhaar enrollment centre and password enrollment center .. environment is also great

Beside main road, merely 2 minutes walk from barrackpore court which is its nearest landmark. Green surroundings. 'Passport Seva Kendra' is within its apertinance. Functional from march 2018. Passport Service is very poor, staff is irregular, reach office after 10 while appointment holders who are scheduled at 9:00 hours waits till staff's arrival. No value of your time. Please opt for any other PSK if you value your time.

Smita mukherjee their delivery person is the worst.she did not want to deliver so she call us to pick up the parcel.when we say we dont have time will pick up next day she tell us she is going to send back the parcel
