Passport Seva Kendra

I visited the Passport Seva Kendra yesterday to apply for my passport after completing the online application process. My reporting time was 12:15 PM, and I reached the center around 11:45-12:00. The initial steps were smooth--document verification at Counter A and the process at Counter B were handled efficiently and quickly. However, things slowed down significantly at Counter C. Despite having a scheduled time slot, I ended up waiting for nearly 3 hours at this stage. What made the experience more frustrating was that all the staff at Counter C went on lunch break at the same time, leaving over 50 applicants waiting with no assistance or updates. This lack of coordination was quite disappointing. Considering that much of the process is already digitized, it would be helpful if the scheduling system could better manage time slots and staff breaks to reduce waiting times. Improving this aspect could significantly enhance the overall experience.

Passport office they're doing work very Good, inside no issues. Outside they have toilet token system Rs.5 one normal indian toilet,one western toilet it's not working properly not cleaned also.. it's Indian government very biggest authorities place come every day 1000 to 5000 peoples that place no have free toilet. Officers working are slow as a slug except maybe a few. They chit chat all the time while there is a queue of people in front of them. And the doc verification process for passport is bullshit. The website clearly says that DigiLocker certificates are enough but the officers do not accept it. I don't understand what is the point of govt. introducing digitally verifiable certificates. I know that the central govt. offices are generally like this, but Madurai PSK is one of the worst bureaucracy I have ever seen!

After finishing their work the passport office is not bothering about the waiting persons in their office campus even though they are senior citizens and the canteen has not provided any chair to it. The administrative officer should take care on this matter..

I had a very frustrating experience at the Madurai Passport Office today. I arrived at 11:00 AM for my passport renewal, and after waiting until 2:00 PM, I was told that I need to change my surname. My old passport already has my husband's surname, and I requested to keep it the same. However, the staff insisted on providing additional proof, even though I showed my husband's original passport as evidence. They still said it was not sufficient, which I found unreasonable and unclear. To make things worse, I had already paid 3500, which they said is non-refundable, even though my application could not be processed due to their unclear requirements. I wasted my entire day, faced unhelpful guidance, and lost money without any proper solution. The process needs to be made more transparent, and the staff should inform applicants clearly about the required documents before payment and appointment.

Never seen a government office functioning this efficiently.Work Flow is well organized just handover the relevant photocopies and originals at the designated counters if everything is in order one can finish the entire process within 30minutes. While exiting the office I got the call from police station for verification. I was like what the heck?Wish every government offices functions this way. 1)Initially they check the appointment letter at the entrance and let us in. 2)Proceed to the first counter this is a preliminary verification where they make sure we have all the required documents and photocopies if not we can take the photocopies from the nearby counter. 3)After submitting the documents we're requested to wait in a nearby hall after few minutes our name will be called and all the documents will be handed over back to us with a token no.Now we have to proceed to the first floor where the actual verification takes place. There are 3 different counters A,B,C. A-They take our photo,fingerprints and scan our photocopies and make sure the application has been filled without any errors.There is 20 A counters(A1-A20). One thing I don't like is that they force us to buy the passport cover in this counter. B-The Verification officers will be present they verify the photocopies with our original.There is 4 counters for B(B1-B4) C-This is the final step where granting officers once again scrutinize our application and documents if everything is inorder then our application will be accepted and forwarded for police verification. If there is any issue we'll be asked to see APO. Update: Received my passport within a week of submitting the application.

Well organized , got my passport in just 4 days. Applied on Friday , Monday police verification and Wednesday I got my passport. When I went, there were huge crowd but still managed to organize properly. Myself did buy that passport cover they sell, it is organized by Tata company , thats why they keep on insisting on buying this cover. And they say on filling application form, there is a check box for that, kindly check that if it is really there .

Good infrastructure,,, everything is well maintained... cons: slow working speed,, less number of chairs to sit, less man power... how to apply passport in simple steps...1) do apply for passport do it online.... Online payment available.. Have necessary documents... Adhar card,, ration card,, pan card , 10 th mark sheet details with you when u apply... 1500 rs pay online... Choose a date for document verification... Sms confirmation will come...with Sequence number .. 2) At date of document verification ... Just carry adhar and 10th mark sheet original and Xerox ...That all plus extra 500 rs for passport cover.... Time taken to complete passport verification is 1.5 to 2 hours ...
