I visited Chennai GPO PSK, 1/10 Rajaji Salai, today(05/02/2026) for my passport appointment. The entire process was very smooth and well organised. The staff were friendly, polite, and helpful. They guided applicants clearly at every step and were not rude at all. My appointment was scheduled for 9:30 AM, but I reached around 9:15 AM. As I was among the first few applicants to report, the staff called me early and completed my process promptly. Since I carried all the required original documents along with photocopies, my verification was completed quickly. By 9:30 AM (my actual appointment time), my entire process was finished without any hassle. Overall, it was a very good experience. I appreciate the staff for their support, professionalism, and efficient work.

Very Smooth Passport Renewal Experience I had a 9:15 AM appointment on 13-Nov2025, and reached at 9:07 AM -- first applicant of the day. The lady staff at the counter was polite and efficient. She verified my passport, gas bill, and driving licence (all self-attested) and mentioned that since my old passport was issued in Abu Dhabi, I needed to fill an additional form and attach a recent photo -- something not clearly mentioned on the Passport Seva site. She kindly allowed me to bring my photo from home since I lived nearby. I watched her handle several applicants calmly, even when some had unclear, scanned, or enlarged photocopies -- she explained everything patiently. She later corrected minor details in my form to match my old passport and gas bill and made sure I reviewed all details before submission. The process, including biometrics, finished by 10:23 AM. Tip: Bring a passport photo if your old passport was issued abroad and ensure your document copies are clear. Overall, an efficient and courteous 5-star experience.

Nice experience for new passport process for my kids. The staff was polite right from entering the room till the end of process. The entire team working on passport building was quick and helped us to get through the steps smoothly. I would suggest this place to go for passport (Recommended for kids passport) Note. Even i was hesitant on seeing google reviews about this place but i felt really happy to have chosen this venue. Kudos to the passport team

Please don't choose this for passport application, everything went smooth and fine UpTo police verification. It didn't take much time on that day for appointment also. But after that status is not changing at all. We need to visit regional passport office multiple times to move our file for passport printing. Waste of time and effort. If we apply in regular PSK office like aminjikarai or saligramam the passport gets dispatched automatically within a week. If we apply Here it's not dispatched even after 2 weeks and you need wait a whole day in regional passport office just to move your application for dispatching.

They are welcoming and giving proper response. It hardly takes 10 mins for a singles person. But, if there are more appointments we need to wait for few more minutes. From token till end it took an hour to complete the whole process.

Very poor service. It's been 3 months since we had applied for the passport of my minor son. Police verification everything went smoothly. But they didn't provide the proper documents we had submitted to the Regional Office. They missed the documents we provided and the processing procedure was put on hold. And now we have to run multiple times to the Regional Office for the processing to be done.

Staff was extremely cooperative, they guide you and patiently complete your application. The place is little small and old building but staff has maintained it nicely, neatly and important is ensuring customers doesn't have trouble in getting there passport application completed without hassle.

I'm not sure about the earlier reviews, but I visited here mid July 2025 and my process was smooth. The staff were helpful and the entire process was clearly briefed patiently. The process: The process takes 20-30 minutes overall once your turn comes including document verification, upload, photographs and fingerprint verification. A person will check your documents as a preliminary validity check before you go for the actual verification and will flag off any issues for you to rectify before the actual verification. This makes the process faster. Make sure all your documents are clear and legible and you have self attested on all pages of the xerox copies to make it easier. Note: The servers are slow just like the one in any government agencies and there are only 2 staff for the actual verification. The PSK allocates 4 slots every 15 minutes . So the staff can do very little in following the actual schedule though they do the very best to fast tack the process. Kindly keep a buffer of at least 2 hours with you and kindly be polite to the staff. My appointment time was at 10 am. But my turn came by 11:15 am and the entire process got over by around 11:35 am. As the day progresses, your wait time might increase as well. So kindly work out your other works accordingly.
