Honestly a great visa application experience. A gentleman checked our papers while we waited in line, all instructions were clear, they were kind with people who didn't have their papers in order and helped them understand what was needed of them, everyone was super nice and I had the visa approval within a day of the interview. They have a locker for your phone and wallet. For visitor visa, while you SHOULD refer to their website for authoritative information - what was asked of me was the form duly filled in with the photograph, 3 month bank statements, investment proof (if any), passport, passport photocopy, payment receipt (you can pay at the consulate however) and cover letter. Note that it does take time because there's a lot of people. My interview was scheduled at 10am, and with document checking, biometrics, and interview we finished at like 1pm. Toilets and water are available. 5 stars all the way - more so because of the kindness of everyone there.

The process is highly manual and time taking.
For me a visitor visa took at least 1 week and couple of visits to the consulate. Staff is helping and coordinating.
Points to note:
- Keep multiple copies of application form handy.
- All the letters and documents wet signed and sealed.
- Fees can be easily paid at the time of appointment.
- Resolution was sent via email after a week and then had to visit consulate for stamping.

Smooth, professional & well-organized process
Contrary to many negative reviews online, my experience at the Mexican Consulate, Mumbai was very positive. The security and staff were polite, supportive, and professional throughout.
Process (very systematic):
* At entry, security checks the appointment letter, passport & photocopy, payment acknowledgement, visa appointment document, visa application form.
* After queuing, documents and form are reviewed inside; if corrections are needed, they guide you clearly
* After final submission, they retained bank statements, appointment page, passport copy, last year & year-to-date investment documents
* My cover letter and company documents (business owner) were returned
* A token number is issued - wait outside
* Second entry for biometrics (fingerprints & photo)
* Final round is the interview
* Post interview, they inform that email update will come within ~10 days
* If approved, passport stamping requires a separate visit (same-day stamping is not done here)
There's a stationery shop in the basement next to the building, which is very helpful. Tip: carry 2-3 extra visa forms and double-check documents--I saw one applicant turned away for missing bank statements and asked to rebook.
Staff also gave drinking water and announced that anyone needing water or the washroom could come inside.
Overall, a calm, clear, and efficient experience. The interviewer was serious (understandably), but everyone else--from security to biometrics staff--was courteous and communicative. Highly recommended.

The security Guards (Indians), visa application documents verifying persons (Indians), and a Male Mexican Visa officer (seems to be polite & kind, but he interviews only selected candidates and approved. but I don't know the reason for this selection of applications), are good.
The Lady Visa officer is talking in disrespectful manner. All applicants call her very rude and unprofessional. Some gentleman said that she looks at person from top to bottom, for what purpose I don't know. I never seen a visa officer scanning me like that instead of looking at my face and documents. She abruptly stops discussion and asks rude questions. This is happening in unprofessional manner. I have never seen a professional visa officer asking rude questions like here.
She go through all documents of each and every person, and comes for interview at 12:30 to 1:00pm, and asks some irrelevant questions for 2 min to deny the visa and sends them off, saying "we will have to review your application". No genuine reason was given for disapproval.
Apart from the 20 daily limited applicants, I have seen several bulk applications brought from outside by an agent handing over all the applications inside the office. Apparently, people are saying that those who come through agents their visa is approved. And those who come in person on own, their visa approval is likely 1-5%.
The website is so confusing, making money from visa seeking applicants. For Delhi there is no slot at all. Also, for Mumbai and Delhi, two different application forms and Bank payment details are given, which is so confusing to everyone whom I have seen there. People have paid money twice as a result.
People coming from far states have to wait till they get the update which could be more than a week. Waste of huge money for attending in person interviews with such rude visa officer. If the visa approval or disapproval is told on the same day of interview, we can leave freely. USA visa process is much better I felt after seeing this pathetic process. It is highly encouraged to go through an agent who can get you the visa within three days.
The visa process needs to be improved.
Reasons for Visa denial needs to be informed to applicants.
The visa officer need to show some respect to the applicants.

Of all the Visa application experience this ranks the worse. I got the Visa so the frustration is not bcos i of any rejection
1) appointment slot has no meaning. its race where everyone will rush to get in and it actually is the process. regardless of the appointment time who gets is 1st gets out 1st.
2) horrible employees. i asked 'which email id will the visa confirmation come from?' the standard reply they give is 'wait for 10 days' whatever you ask the reply is the same.
3) the arrogance - for no reason. just to flex the authority

Incredible experience at the Mumbai Embassy!
From the security staff to the officers, everyone was extremely polite and helpful. I visited the embassy with my kids for a visa interview, and the staff patiently explained the entire process and helped me manage the documentation smoothly.
A special thanks to the Mexican officer, who showed great empathy towards my situation--handling two kids alone--and supported me in getting my visa approved on the same day, within the first half itself.
During the interview, the officer asked decent, relevant questions related to the dependent visa, and the conversation felt professional yet understanding, considering we were applying as dependents.
Overall, I had a seamless and respectful experience at the Mumbai Embassy.
5-star rating without a doubt!

For fellow Indians applying for a Mexican visa at this office - Updated as of March 25, 2025.
If you've seen YouTube videos from 2-3 years ago about long wait times (9 AM - 5 PM), that's outdated. My business visa appointment on March 19, 2025, took only 2 hours.
Arrival & Entry Process
I reached at 8 AM. Security verifies passport, appointment confirmation, visa fee receipt, and application form at the glass door before issuing token numbers based on arrival time (I got #1).
Important Bag & Locker Rules
Only clear folders allowed inside (no staplers). You can carry a pen, glue stick, passport, photos, and documents.
Large bags/laptops NOT allowed inside--the office has only small lockers for phones & wallets (must be switched off).
If you have a large bag, either leave it with a friend or store it outside on the footpath (not recommended).
I stored my travel bag at Mumbai Airport's cloakroom and carried only essentials.
Visa Process
1 First verification outside; ensure your application form is filled & signed (carry extra copies).
2 Enter office, register details, hand over phone & wallet for locker storage.
3 Second verification inside; business visa applicants must bring their company's last 12-month bank statement (signed & stamped), even if not listed in requirements.
4 Biometrics & photo collection.
5 Interview: Questions about purpose, duration, and travel history (bring old passports if needed).
6 Visa under review, results emailed in 2-3 days.
Stamping Alternative: If you can't return, authorize a friend with a signed letter, passport copy, their ID proof & email the consulate. My friend submitted my passport on March 24, 2025, for stamping.
Total time at consulate: ~2 hours.
All the officers were very good and helpful, making the process smooth. Hope this helps future applicants!
Please call the toll free number of the consulate if you have any questions. Go for the Hindi option as i.e. the one where you can get connected to the office staff for clarifying your doubts.
Update: I traveled to Mexico during May 2025 and came back to India safe. Here are few things every Indian must know if they are doing a business travel:
1. Always carry your Mexico Company's invitation letter digital copy/Print Out with you as you need to show this at the Flight Kiosk/Desk that issues your Boarding Pass. I took KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and I was asked to show this to the desk that was issuing my boarding pass.
2. Carry a copy of your flight tickets(print out ) so that when you reach the immigration counter in Mexico, they will ask about your return to India. I showed them my company's invitation letter from Mexico as well as the flight ticket that had my return ticket as well. Only after which they stamped my passport and allowed me to enter the country.
As a safe bet, carry all the relevant document related to your Business travel with you mainly print outs so that you can show them at the Mexico Immigration Counter.

I had a very pleasant experience. The staff (including officers and security guards) are very supportive and cooperative. While the foreign officer seemed cold, but I guess its their job to act like that. I was able to get my work done within the same day.
