Important update: Now office will be open only on Monday & Wednesday. They will be closed on friday also...... Picture attached Same like all Government departments. Wait in line. Monday, Wed,Friday they are open from 9 am to 1 pm and they allow maximum 200 persons / query a day. Online appointment is possible, take one if you don't waste more time. Aachhe din aayenge, but when. Police verification can fail you, if you have any matter with Corona Mask issue- that surprised me lot. Moreover Police verfy cases only not judgement given on that.

I had a very positive experience with the RPO Ahmedabad Passport Office. From start to finish, the process was smooth, efficient, and well-managed. The staff were professional, courteous, and very helpful. They guided me clearly through document verification and interview procedures, ensuring there were no confusions or delays.

Recently i visited the place regarding my passport renewal. My application had some errors which were ignored at local passport office by saying it's fine there won't be issue. For almost 10 days same status was showing, I didn't get call or mail to resolve my issue. Finally when i visited same issue came up. I resolved but it was not updated by the respective person for which no one hold themselves accountable. I had to visit again and got it updated still i am not clear weather there is still issue with my application or not. The online passport status is not clearly showing the exact status and even the customer care executive does not know the meaning of the status. The only remedy is wait in the queue for 2 hours and you are then given another query and asked to wait again. No calls or mails are answered.

I had a very difficult and disappointing experience at RPO Ahmedabad. I live outside Gujarat, and because of the way the process was handled here, I faced significant financial loss and unnecessary travel. Unlike many other RPOs and even several cities within Gujarat, this office does not allow family members to collect the passport. Since I was out of town, my family members tried multiple times through India Post, but it was denied every time. Because nothing about this exception was communicated clearly, I had to book last-minute flights of around 10,000 each and travel back urgently just to collect my passport. Even after visiting the RPO in person, the experience was extremely unorganized. I was redirected from one counter to another, then another room, and no one gave a clear answer. I informed the staff that I had a deadline in two days. They told me my passport would be dispatched the same day. The next day, when I checked again, I was told it was "forgotten" and would be re-dispatched again. This level of miscommunication and lack of ownership from staff caused further delays. In total, I had to travel to the RPO twice, to the Passport Seva Kendra twice, and my family visited India Post multiple times. What should have been a straightforward Tatkal passport ended up taking nearly two months because of unclear information, no email responses from the office, and repeated misdirection. If I had simply received one clear email reply, I could have planned my travel properly and avoided the financial loss. This office urgently needs better communication, clearer processes, and accountability so citizens don't have to suffer due to procedural gaps and coordination failures.

The ground floor staff at work very slowly, with only one counter handling seating and customer queries, leading to long wait times. The passport section staff, although new, are efficient in capturing photos. There's a chargeable pantry and a facility for printouts, which is convenient but comes at an additional cost. The government should consider hiring more staff to address the backlog of pending work. However, the first and third-floor staff are notably quick and efficient. The location near the BRTS bus stand is convenient, and overall, my experience was satisfactory despite some delays.

Very disappointing experience at the Regional Passport Office, Ahmedabad. The process was extremely slow and poorly managed. Staff appeared unhelpful and uninterested in resolving queries, and basic guidance was missing, forcing applicants to run from one counter to another. Long waiting times with no clear communication or updates made the whole visit frustrating. For such an important government service, the level of efficiency and professionalism should be much higher. Serious improvement is needed in customer handling, queue management, and overall responsiveness.

Clearly written in appointment form that we don't need to bring the copy of appointment letter. Photo or sms of your appointment is enough to get the access. Still the security guard forced me to get the hard copy of the letter from the nearby shop - "Gayatri Xerox".

The Regional Passport Office is extremely inefficient and unprofessional. Even after all required documents and verifications have been submitted and received, the office continues to ask applicants to follow up with the issuing authority, despite already having the necessary documents. The application status remains stuck in "under review" for months, emails are vague and contradictory, and there is no accountability. Physical documents appear to get lost or ignored, and the lack of transparency and timely updates makes the process unnecessarily frustrating. The system urgently needs better document management and staff accountability.
