I visited Bagdogra Airport a few days ago. It is a small airport, so the facilities are basic compared to larger airports. The services are decent, with clean toilets, check-in counters, a few shops and food options, and taxis available outside, making the experience fairly comfortable. The infrastructure needs improvement to manage a higher number of passengers more efficiently. Overall, Bagdogra Airport is suitable for short trips, but it needs better organization and expansion for a smoother experience.

I have been to this airport twice and it's a small airport which gives you window to reach Darjeeling, Gangtok or Bhutan via Jaigaon. There are few coffee shops, eateries and handicraft shops. During peak this airport cab be very crowded but last time I saw that crowd was being managed better. People at the check-in counter can be strict with respect to your luggage weight but overall it's fine.

However, it is convenient for people from Siliguri, Darjeeling, and travelers to Sikkim, especially since Sikkim's airport is not fully operational due to technical issues. Bagdogra is currently the main airport for travelers visiting Sikkim.

The roads outside the airport are generally traffic-free, making entry and exit smooth and stress-free. The airport experience feels simple and genuine--no unnecessary hassle or scams, which is a big plus. Staff and overall operations are decent, and everything feels manageable because of the airport's compact size. One area that definitely needs improvement is app-based cab services. OLA, Uber, and Rapido are still not available, which makes transportation slightly inconvenient for travelers who depend on these services. Overall, Bagdogra Airport offers a pleasant, peaceful, and scenic travel experience. Small but charming, it truly hits different--especially if it's your home airport. With better cab connectivity, it would be even more perfect

It's a really small airport, which is sad considering the amount of tourism Darjeeling gets. Limited seating options, and a few basic shops around. The arrival / baggage collection area is not air conditioned, hence can get humid if you're waiting for someone. The overall baggage process is fast however and washrooms are clean. A good airport to land at, but not a good airport to have a layover at or maybe wait for someone at.
