Location and Infra: A very small post office passport seva kendra (POPSK) located very near to Annammal college of Education and BSNL Quarters. No hi-fi waiting halls, AC, crowd etc. A very minimal sitting area outside a small room covered by asbestos sheet amidst neem trees provided with a couple of ceiling fans and broken plastic chairs for sitting. Looks like an accomodation quarters converted to an office room with two staff with desktop computers and a camera setup. Pros-Tuticorin CITY's first PSK avoiding the need to travel to nearby city for passport appointment. Service: The staff there are tuned to ask for a certain set of documents though the government has mandated otherwise. They tend to help first timers or fairly naive applicants but if you question the system and the fair practices they make you run after submission of additional documents. Please read the document advisor and carry only the minimal required documents. In this high-tech era, everything is digitalized and our documents are available everywhere in the cloud, digilocker etc. for easy download and verification. So make sure you carry the documents as mentioned in the document advisor. Aadhaar has brought up a lot of new changes and these people ask for eAadhaar. Yes, that's how government agencies in India work.

I am from Nagercoil and booked a confirmed appointment at Thoothukudi POPSK through the official portal. The system showed slots and issued my appointment slip. I traveled from another state Bangalore at my own cost and time--only to be told at the counter, "we don't accept other-district applicants." There was no warning on the portal, SMS, email, or at the entrance about any district restriction. Because of this refusal, I also exhausted all my reschedule chances even though none of this was my fault. When I called RPO Madurai, they repeated the same line and offered no solution. This is extremely unfair to applicants who rely on the online system and travel long distances. If a restriction exists, it must be clearly stated online and on the appointment slip, or the POPSK should call/SMS applicants after booking. Otherwise, people waste time, money, and leave without service. I request the authorities to: Honor appointments booked via the portal or reset reschedule counts when refusal is from the POPSK side. Clearly display any eligibility/district rules before booking and at the center. Train staff to handle such cases with empathy and provide a clear escalation path.

Passport officials were more helpful and they were kind enough to detail about all the required documents. 1) If Documents xerox copy are not clear, they would request you to bring color xerox, So its better to have color xerox. 2) Print of appointment slip is optional, but its good to have. 3) Name and address should exactly match in govt id proofs /Aadhar and application form.

Went for renewal of my passport last month process was okay took almost 1-11/2hrs to complete. the thing which made me trouble was E-aadhar So people who are going here must take a print out of E-aadhar with digital signature preferably the day ur going Other documents likes passport Xerox & 10th marksheet are also must To be safe u can also keep a original & Xerox of other documents but the 3 above mentioned one are a must have NOTE: if ur missing out in any printout or xerox you have to go outside for taking it as in the office they won't have printer or xerox facilities unlike other passport office branches

I went for passport renewal!.. Before that in my fresh passport in thirunelveli!.. that time TVL PSK staff behaviour very worst!. I thought same like here but here totally different!.. Our TUTY POPSK STAFF very good and they treate liks us a family person!.. good behaving to everyone!.. Need all original documents in colour photocopies only!..

The people here are very loving and will do what we need in the best possible way when you go take 1,aadhar original+xerox 2,10 or 12th marksheet original + xerox 3,Birthday certificate original +Xerox 4, Transferre certificate original or Xerox Before you go, check all the certificates to see if your name is correct or if your father is name correct and address also. If you have done anything wrong while applying for a passport, you can fix it here.

I recently went for my fresh passport process.....staffs were so polite and clearing all our confusions....if you have every documents it will not take more than 20 minutes for verification. Documents needed for fresh passport: *E aadhar on your appointment date (color and b/w) *10 or 12 marksheet *Voter id *Running bank passbook *Pan card *Aadhar card Above said documents you need to bring original and xerox copy, and the copy should be clear and dark not blurred.
