But my recent interaction with the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Kovilpatti, under the leadership of Girija ma'am, completely changed that perception. Some time ago, I lost my Driving Licence, and like many others, I turned to a local driving institute, assuming they'd be the fastest way to get it reissued. But to my surprise, I was told the process couldn't be done. I felt stuck and unsure of what to do next. That's when I decided to try the official Parivahan online portal--with low expectations but a bit of hope. What followed was a refreshingly smooth experience. My application was accepted, and the process moved forward efficiently--something I honestly didn't expect. Now here's the twist: we've all seen those movie scenes with the iconic RTO dialogue-- "Important paper is missing..." (And yes, we all know what that "important paper" really implied.) The reason I bring this up is that, based on everything I knew--and from what I gathered by speaking with people familiar with the process--reissuing a lost Driving Licence is considered a painful task, mainly because it involves coordination with the police department, filing FIRs or LDRs, and dealing with procedural delays. But in my case, I experienced the complete opposite. There were no backdoors, no "missing documents," and absolutely no under-the-table expectations--just a transparent system, honest service, and a team that genuinely cared. The officers didn't just process my request--they restored my belief in how public offices can and should operate. What stood out the most was the team's attitude and approach. Everyone I interacted with was polite, informed, and helpful. At one point, I genuinely forgot I was in a government office--it felt more like a well-managed private service center. That kind of professionalism doesn't just happen. It's a reflection of strong leadership and a clear vision. Girija ma'am's management is clearly setting a new benchmark. Her leadership has nurtured a team that values integrity, efficiency, and public trust. Their attention to detail and willingness to support citizens made a lasting impression on me. In a time when government services are often criticized for inefficiency, my experience was nothing short of remarkable. To Girija ma'am and the entire RTO Kovilpatti team: Thank you for proving that government services can be smooth, transparent, and truly citizen-first. You've not only helped me resolve an issue--I believe you've helped change a stereotype.

Kovilpatti may be the only city in Tamil Nadu where city buses ply without any route numbers. Hundreds of people from other states who don't know Tamil visit this city everyday for various business activities. It will be of great help to them if all the city buses display route numbers. Will the RTO look into this and ensure display of route numbers in all the city buses??

It is a good spacious office. Lots of natural lighting and wide open space, unlike other cramped offices.

Good relationship with government officials. Only mini buses are running thz area. People's are suffer from buses.
