The Sikkim Tourist Information Centre is a valuable resource for travelers exploring the picturesque state of Sikkim. Located strategically in Gangtok, the center serves as a hub for providing essential travel guidance and information to both domestic and international tourists. The staff at the center are courteous, knowledgeable, and eager to assist visitors with details about popular destinations, local culture, transportation, accommodations, and trekking routes. Their insights into offbeat locations and hidden gems make the travel experience more enriching. The availability of brochures, maps, and other informative material is a big plus for those who prefer to plan their itinerary independently. The center also facilitates permits for restricted areas such as Nathula Pass and North Sikkim, simplifying what could otherwise be a cumbersome process. It offers recommendations for local guides and trusted tour operators, ensuring that travelers have a safe and memorable journey. The office is well-maintained, with a welcoming ambiance that reflects the warmth of Sikkimese hospitality. However, the center could benefit from better signage for easier accessibility and extended operating hours to cater to late arrivals. Overall, the Sikkim Tourist Information Centre is a reliable starting point for anyone looking to explore the natural beauty and vibrant culture of Sikkim.

Worst driver- SK-01-J-3629(Maxx) In chandmari stand this is the worst driver, he got some anger issues with the tourists, he has some serious mental problems, so I humbly suggest and request to the travel agency to not suggest such drivers specially this one for our trip We are tourist, we work daily for making our trip good, but this kind of drivers make our travel worst.. So, SK-01-J-3629(Maxx), this is the number plate of that driver, if you don't want to get trip worst stay from that person and his car My trip gets worst, I hope you all carefully review your trip

We come across the Tourist Information Centre along the end of the MG Marg street & think of collecting a brochure for tour. When we entered strange to see that there were only two staffs & looked at us, No hi/hello or greetings. Very sad to see this attitude of staff who doesn't know basic atticates to greet tourists. We asked for brochure & we got it. Though the booklet has great info's for sure

Very helpful. For permits one must understand. Only 2 wheeler permit is provided for persons with valid Indian cards. Foreigners may get permit but they need additional inner line permits. For Indians it is must to carry voter card, pan card or driver license. Please note Aadhar card is not considered in most of the parts. Passport may be used. To get 2 wheeler permit you need 2 days.(from 2018 onwards) Day 1 - Visit tourist information center and collect a form for submission of documents. You can ask at the counter for the same. Fill it along with submission of documents like Smartcard xerox, puc certificate xerox, vehicle registration xerox, insurance xerox, driver license xerox Voter card xerox, and if needed pan card xerox. And 2 copy of photographs. One thing is must if vehicle is not in your name please manage proper authorisation documents for the same. And submit the xerox of it. Along with that if one desires to visit Nathula (East sikkim) they must add additional 200 rs challan from the nearby State Bank of Sikkim branch (ask at the counter for the nathula challan) Now one must mention the routes they want to travel I mean north and east sikkim. Please ask at the counter whether you need to submit seperately or on the same paper. Submission can be done on the same day to get the permission challan for both north and east sikkim. Now permission challan will be provided on the same day. They will inform you when to collect the permission challan. Note - I have attached the permission challan with this review. Day 2 - On the next day from the tourist information centre there will be army/police people with check your permission challan once more and here also you need to submit another set of documents all xerox. All the documents perviously submitted + permission challan xerox (original will be kept with you). And also you need to attach your 1 photograph. Please be there by 5:30 AM to 6 AM as tourist agents will be there after 6AM and there will be a long queue. Day 1 documents will be kept by Sikkim govt. Day 2 documents will be kept by the Indian Army. Note - If you are travelling to both North and East sikkim. Say on this day you are travelling to North Sikkim then on returning to Gangtok you will again have to come another day for the Day 2 army verification permit issue for east sikkim. Now the army will give you the permit to travel once your documents are proper. Also if the whether or roads are not suitable they might not give you the permit. Once you get the final permit make xerox of it you can start your journey.
