The red letterbox at GPO -- topped with the crown of Queen Elizabeth II -- is another unique feature. According to postal records, it is among the very few in the country with that crown design, and letters posted from it bear a special cancellation mark. The Pune GPO represents the evolution of postal services in the city -- from pre-colonial "Dak" courier routes to a formal British postal system, and now modern India Post. The current heritage building was built in 1873-74, designed by Colonel Finch in a Palladian / Victorian style. Over decades, it has been expanded, renovated, and preserved -- gaining heritage status in 2000. The GPO is historically significant not only for postal services but also for its architecture and symbolic features (elephant stones, zero milestone, colonial letterbox), which offer a window into Pune's 19th- and early 20th-century past.

Subject: Complaint Regarding Refusal to Accept Speed Post Before Closing Time Pune G.P.O Yesterday I visited Pune G.P.O to send a Speed Post at around 7:00 PM. The official closing time is 8:00 PM. Despite reaching well before the closing time, the staff refused to accept my parcel without providing any proper reason. The parcel contained important medicines, and it was urgent. I made sure to reach before closing time, yet I was denied service. This behavior is highly disappointing and unprofessional. I request you to kindly look into this matter seriously and take appropriate action so that customers are not denied service during official working hours

Really dissatisfied with the service by Indiapost . Especially being a BNPL customer. I would rather spend more, than use this service again. Every other month services to International shipping get stopped for one reason or another without prior notice. Spent 3500 on shipping a parcel. Service got suspended. After months of waiting and requesting, had to call back the shipment. Almost a year later, haven't received a refund for the charges paid for shipping. Even after filling multiple complaints and at the end a consumer complaint as well. Our government service is good for nothing. The quality of service in the government sector is absolutely dismal.

If I bring my license to the post office But the post man uncle went to have lunch when it was 2:45 mi. The post office service in Pune is as perfect as the government people.

A beautiful heritage building that houses the GPO, you get the best service over here. Especially parcel sending process is so organised and well oiled procedure. A very well maintained building. With ample parking space.

Very unprofessional Aadhaar enrollment center. I visited this center for a minor name spelling correction (Ruyan to Ruyaan). I am below 18 and submitted an updated Birth Certificate, which is a valid document as per UIDAI rules. However, the operator gave contradictory information. First, I was told to update my birth certificate. When I returned, I was suddenly told that a Gazette notification is mandatory, which is incorrect for a minor spelling correction. The behavior of the staff member is rude and aggressive. He raises his voice, creates mental stress, and does not guide applicants properly. I also witnessed elderly people being harassed. One old man had come for an address update for the 4th time and was still rejected without clear explanation. When asked to give requirements in writing, the operator refused. This center wastes people's time, demands non-required documents, and treats citizens--especially students and senior citizens--very poorly. Authorities should seriously review the conduct of this center.
