Post Office

I visited upper Gudalur Post Office for Aadhaar update services. During my visit, the counter staff informed me that my Aadhaar update would be processed immediately only if I opened a normal postal savings account on the same day, stating that they had account-opening targets to meet. Otherwise, I was advised to come early the next morning, take a token, and then get the Aadhaar update done. I clearly informed the staff that I already have an old post office savings account which has been converted to an India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) account. Despite this, I was told that I must open a new normal savings account to avail the Aadhaar update service. At the time of my visit, there was no crowd or rush at the counter, and the Aadhaar update could have been completed. However, the service was denied unless I agreed to open a new account. This has caused me significant inconvenience and dissatisfaction. Linking Aadhaar update services with compulsory opening of a new account, even when the customer already holds an existing IPPB account, is improper and against standard procedure. Aadhaar update services should be provided independently and without forcing customers to avail additional products or services. I request the concerned authority to kindly look into this matter and take necessary action to ensure that correct procedures are followed and such practices are not repeated in the future.
